I really enjoyed this book! It's a fun read, especially for a story that takes on such heavy topics.
Terrance Roundtree offers a unique take on time travel, weaving elements of history and humanity for a highly creative story.
I enjoyed the characters, concept, and settings quite a bit. Many of the story's big moments were ones I didn't see coming.
Terrance's distinct voice truly drives this story, adding richness to the modern and historical settings.
There's often an element of playfulness to the language, using funny colloquialisms and dialogue that works like gangbusters to drop the reader's guard. That's usually when Terrance lands a gut punch in the story, lending even more emotional weight to a big moment.
I especially liked how the characters in modern and historical time periods often share the meanings behind a colloquial phrase or term. It's a great way to show how much we've
changed in a lot of ways, but also how certain pervasive elements of our history and culture remain intact, even after a century or more.

The great reviews on this author's first book are well-deserved, and this second novel is every bit as compelling. I had a great time reading the first, and this one's even better. (Roundtree also wrote this in a way that should make it easy for anyone to jump into the series in Book 2, if you haven't read the first yet.)
I had the privilege of reading an advance copy of Book 2. The pacing is fast and exciting, especially once the revenge story kicks into gear full-throttle. Yet Roundtree also finds a way to let
every scene breathe, drawing the reader into the story's world with details that engage readers' senses.
Much like book one, there's something here for fans of many genres: action, suspense, an ongoing love story that spans across time, and a sprinkle of sci-fi that doesn't get too far-fetched.
The characters are unique and all have their own voice.
It's hard to write about my favorite parts without spoilers. But similar to the way Tarantino thrilled viewers by offering fictional revenge on some of history's worst real-life villains in "Once Upon
A Time In Hollywood" and "Django Unchained," Roundtree brings to life a creative revenge story that uniquely sees the hero using modern wisdom to combat heartless men in the days of
slavery.
